Why Upskilling and Reskilling are the future of workplace

Last Updated on 28 January, 2021

The need for upskilling and reskilling employees is a global issue. Especially considering the long term remote working structure, organizations need to invest in revamping their upskilling and reskilling approaches and follow an innovative approach to systematic workplace management.

In this episode Capt. Raghu Raman talks about how to reskill and upskill to stay relevant in companies. As Raghu pointed out, the right way to look at developing employees would be to consider diff-skilling (to learn different skills in different domains) rather than upskilling. He also shares some brilliant examples for leaders to stay positive while seeing their coworkers being dropped out. According to Raghu, saving the company’s entity is the most critical responsibility during a crisis. He also talks about the risks involved and how to lead efficiently while rebooting the organization.

Capt. Raghu Raman is the former CEO of the National Intelligence Grid and former president of Reliance Industries. Raghu began his career in the Indian Army and was in operations in Punjab, then in the frontline of Siachen glacier and as a UN peacekeeper in Angola. In 1998, Raghu left the Indian army and joined the Mahindra group and has been the CEO of Firstchoice and Mahindra Special defense services among other companies.
